A CURATED CALENDAR FOR THE CURIOUS SLC EXPLORER
See full event listings at The Blocks Arts District
Pioneer Day or Pie and Beer Day? You can do both! As tents are being set up on Wednesday night along the Parade route, the First United Methodist Church will present a free organ concert where Scott Mills will play Come, Come Ye Saints, and the attendees will sing America the Beautiful. Wander in, they are right on the parade route! 8-10pm
178 years ago today, Brigham Young eyed the Salt Lake Valley, or what the Western Shoshone called Pia-pa. But you didn’t come here for a history lesson. So, enjoy the bounty of this state at the free Sunrise Service at the Tabernacle at 7am, the best floats at the Days of 47 Parade 9-11am, Cheer on the marathon runners. AND, be sure to plan for road closures.
At The Gateway, Flanker celebrates with $7 pie slice and ice cream; at Gracie’s, Jitensha plays their sweet honey indie pop on the patio at 7pm; Green Pig offers karaoke at 9pm; most bars will be hopping with Pie and Beer Day specials, so come wander Downtown with us!

The Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival brings world premieres, avant garde plays, gonzo one-person performances, and deeply moving tragic dramas.
Sorry for the cliche, but with more than 20 art-house productions, this brilliant little festival has something for everyone. From Puppet Karaoke to The Words at the Door, a play about love, sex, guilt, and acceptance when the story ends, these crazy-creative presentations will stay with you long after you’ve left the theater. Thursday-Sunday at The Gateway.
Listen to Penelope Road harmonize to Landslide and tell us that you don’t want to see their show tonight at Soundwell.
Go ahead, we'll wait…
The Atlanta-based band’s original music–a mix of 70’s funk and nostalgic rock–is pretty rad with nods to Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder.
Just buy the ticket. 8pm, $27.
Following the two-week summer intensive at Dance West, professional dancers will perform newly-created works at Rose Wagner. The collaboration between Ririe-Woodbury, RDT, combined with notable guest artists jo Blake, Bashaun Williams, and Leslie Kraus should make for dynamic and athletic performances.
At the grocery store, you’re going to start noticing the 17% Mexican tomato tariff. So, avoid inflation, and grab much better, fresher produce at the Downtown Farmers Market… AND you’ll save money during peak season?! It’s a no brainer, people! 8-2 at Pioneer Park.
The Jackalope Lounge has lived many lives — some rowdy, some rough — but today the State Street bar is thriving under the care of co-owners Roxan Morin and Sunyin Macri, who’ve turned it into one of SLC’s most welcoming spots to grab a perfectly poured pint and make a new friend (or five). We stopped in before the Sierra Ferrell concert and loved the diversity and community.
If you’ve been around for a bit, you might remember the Jackalope for a checkered past, but trust us, it is very welcoming and is now a place where skaters, business folks, artists, and regulars of all stripes gather like family. Try it out, you might fall in love with this little dive.
We want to feature your fun!
