Downtown Rising 2035:
Beyond the Games
OVERVIEW
The purpose of the Downtown Rising 2035 process is to guide a coordinated, business-led and community-informed vision for the future of Downtown Salt Lake City. The vision is being produced for the benefit of downtown stakeholders. The vision aims to help stakeholders align and coordinate their efforts around common principles, goals, and opportunities for achieving broad community benefits and prosperity.
Downtown Rising 2035 will build on the visions established in earlier processes–Downtown Rising (2007) and the Downtown Plan (2016). This contemporary effort contemplates $10 Billion in new downtown development investment over the next decade (known projects are listed at the end of this document).
PROCESS
Engage Downtown thought leaders to identify key projects and refine the five part lens of inquiry: Beauty, Prosperity, Green, Community focused, Connected.
OUTPUT
Engage Downtown stakeholders (businesses, cultural institutions, residents, workers, artists) to capture values, aspirations and concerns for Downtown’s growth over the next decade.
Develop a plan, with the guidance of a technical advisor group that knows Downtown SLC, that distills values, themes, community benefits and actions.
Publish a plan that community stakeholders and leaders will use to guide investments in Downtown Salt Lake City.
