A trained violinist, Sudan Archives pays tribute to Sudanese fiddlers and fuses traditional strings with electronic beats, tight R&B harmonies and dozens of other signposts… the whole of the parts is beautifully bold and joyous. The Complex, 7pm

Clue: the board game, the movie, and now a play that The Los Angeles Times calls “mindless fun.” A mansion, a murder, and a mystery–you’re not rolling the dice on this comedy at Eccles daily through Sunday.

ALSO WEDNESDAY:
Utah Jazz v. Sacramento Kings at Delta Center (tickets starting at $11!)

We can’t be the only ones to bawl watching the first few minutes of Up. Let’s do it together as the Utah Symphony performs the sentimental Oscar and Grammy-winning musical score live. Abravanel Hall, through Saturday.

Plan-B Theatre celebrates Black History Month with DUMBED DOWN . After 25 years, Kevin is (really) leaving teaching. But what will happen to the students who might otherwise slip through the cracks? Playwright Darryl Stamp taught 11th grade in Kansas and Hunter High School in West Valley City. DUMBED DOWN is a tale of language, loving, and learning–inspired by his career as an educator. Performances at Rose Wagner through March 1. (Tickets are going fast!)

ALSO THURSDAY:

Ballet West stages a Utah premier of Trey McIntyre’s Peter Pan. Company dancers have been in the Capitol Theatre all week rehearsing the flying scenes(!) while navigating immense sets and wearing opulent costumes! Just seven performances, tickets going fast!

ALSO FRIDAY:

Happy Valentine’s Day! “Brian Regan is one of my favorite, favorite comedians,” said Jerry Seinfeld. That’s all we need to know to buy a ticket to Brian Regan at the Delta Center, $55+.

Enjoy free mat pilates at Asher Adams hotel on Valentine's Day! Just bring a mat and a friend or lover! 11am-noon. And, live classical music in the historic lobby at 7pm.

Hard to believe, but Gallivan Ice Rink is still open and a perfect (and inexpensive) date night idea!

Magic City Hippies bring their warm poolside pop melodies from Miami to The Complex, tickets just $39.

ALSO SATURDAY

12 Minutes Max, presents three local artists’ original pieces from music, dance, film, theater, performance art, writing, and the like — each 12 minutes or less. The whole event is short and sweet, taking about an hour. Sounds perfect for our attention span! Free at the Salt Lake Library.
