The phenomenal One Voice Children’s Choir got international attention on America’s Got Talent and has since become a YouTube sensation with their angelic takes on pop tunes. See their holiday concert–great for the whole family–at the Rose Wagner Tues & Wed, $25+.
Country/folk pop recording artist gavn! sings about losing his father too early and his search for hope. Strumming with a banjo, his music is incredibly soulful and even heart wrenching. Soundwell, 8pm.
High-flying Cirque Du Soleil stages ‘Twas The Night Before at Eccles. International aerialists will be twirling through the candy-colored sets in a “bombastic and tight show,” says Variety.
We do a lot of research for the Friends of This Week Downtown™. So, when we endorse, you know we’ve spent at least 1 min 27 secs doing a deep dive. That is the length of the trailer for God is a Scottish Drag Queen, a one-man comedy at Rose Wagner and we lol’d! (Jared, the joke about red heads is particularly funny.) Bill Allred of Radio from Hell fully endorses God is a Scottish Drag Queen, and is taking his whole family to see it–so don’t just take our word for it.
We are big fans of the Finishing Touches series that the Utah Symphony occasionally stages before a big concert. For just $15 at 10am, you can sit anywhere inside Abravanell Hall and hear the final rehearsal before the evening’s performance, and tonight’s Dvořák's Symphony No. 7 is intense and passionate, particularly the first and fourth movement–and you’ll have the house almost to yourself!
The State of Utah designated Ballet West’s Nutcracker a Living Historic Landmark last year. The 81-year-old production is the longest running Nutcracker in the country and The New York Times dance critic called it the very best in the Country, so go partake in this very-Utah tradition!
Swing by the Main Library on Saturday, December 13, 4:00–5:30pm for the opening reception of Neighborhood Trip, a vivid new exhibit by Salt Lake City artist Benjamin Childress, whose oil paintings blur the line between the real and the surreal. Inspired by loss, place, and the echoes people leave behind, Childress transforms neighborhoods into electric landscapes where vibrant shadow-figures drift through space like whispered reminders that nothing—and no one—ever truly disappears. The exhibit runs through January 23, 2026.
Do you love to give unique local gifts? Of course you do! And we have collected 70 local makers and farmers in one place where you can source your whole gift shopping list. It's the Downtown Farmers Market! And it's in the old Leonardo building today and every Saturday this winter. Oh, and don't freak out, Christmas is two weeks from today.
The powerhouse brass section of the Utah Symphony is teaming up with Cathedral of the Madeleine’s Organist Gabriele Terrone for a night of big, bright, goosebump-y holiday magic. Think soaring carols and sparkling transcriptions only possible when world-class brass collides with the Cathedral’s monumental Kenneth Jones pipe organ. Donations are welcomed but the concert is free–8pm
We want to feature your fun!
