A CURATED CALENDAR FOR THE CURIOUS SLC EXPLORER
See full event listings at The Blocks Arts District

Did you know Salt Lake once had its own Little Italy? Our field reporter, Melissa Fields digs up the past in this new blog post. Celebrate our ties to Italy–their food and culture at Festa Italiana–celebrating its 10th anniversary. Admission is free, Saturday and Sunday.

For nearly her entire life, Joyce Yang has been winning awards for her piano skills. She’s been nominated for Grammy Awards  and performed in the best theaters in the world. Hear her with the Utah Symphony as they perform Edvard Grieg’s most popular work, Piano Concerto. Friday and Saturday, Abravanel Hall.

We cannot stress how awestruck we are by Salt Lake Speaks, the free, semi-annual poetry celebration at the Eccles Theater. There is incredible diversity in thought, rhythm, and emotional texture displayed by artist who takes the microphone. This Friday’s theme is Feelings of Fall. Lobby of Eccles, 7pm

The Downtown Farmers Market is going to be perfection this Saturday. Perfect weather, perfect tomatoes, melons, and well, everything, perfect music from Swing Collective presented by Hot House West, and perfect place to share a beverage with friends at the Level Crossing Beer Garden.

After the Market, swing up to UMOCA for a Book Fair with local arts nonprofit 801 Salon. 11-6pm.
