Ariel C. Wilson and Matt Kowal’s exhibit, from where the sun is, to wherever you are, takes live imagery drawn from twenty-four webcams placed across the earth’s time zones and weaves the film into a single continually cycling composition. See this Warholian presentation at UMOCA through June 6.
Fellow Gen X’r Janeane Garofalo from our collective favorite movie, Reality Bites, is touring a new stand-up act… we previewed it and it is filled with observations on Hoka’s, diarrhea, and a disdain for QR code menus. She gets us and we've already purchased tickets. Wiseguys, multiple shows.
Noah and the flood is the subject matter of Benjamin’s Britten’s opera, Noye’s Fludde, performed by The Madeleine Choir School. Britten wrote the piece specifically for children and said it should only be performed inside a church. See it at The Madeleine, three showings.

The Australian metalpop band (and easy on the eyes) Melrose Avenue just started their first U.S. tour. See them at The Complex tonight for just $30.
It is one of the most often performed operas in the world: Verdi’s La traviata, why? Well, it has everything opera lovers crave: fiery emotions, gorgeous arias, and a plot that pulls on the heartstrings. Plus, you know we love any classical artform that comes with a content warning of mature themes and romantic elements. Fiery indeed! Multiple performances at Capitol Theatre.
More than 600 students from 40 high schools compete for scholarships and awards at the Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards. Knowing the immense talent pool in Utah, you might see Broadway stars of tomorrow, tonight at Eccles, 7pm.
You’d be mutts not to attend the Humane Society of Utah's Bark at the Moon. It is an outdoor block party at The Gateway with local food, craft beer, live music, and a vendor alley worth sniffing around. Your pup can cool off in the splash pad while you sip something cold — a day that will be un-fur-gettable. The night wraps with a glow-in-the-dark dog-friendly walk at 9pm that will have the whole pack howling. The Gateway, May 9, 5–9pm.
