The Phantom of the Opera has played to 140 million people in 35 countries and has grossed over $6 billion in 38 years. And, people still can’t get enough of it–evidenced by the fact there are 24 shows at the Eccles that seem to be selling very well. We guess the spectacle, music, romance and that chandelier will never get old.
Two writers in their seventies struggling with their memories meet on a park bench every day to exchange barbs and wits in Wasatch Theatre Company’s staging of Just Another Day. The two-person comedy has been called “tender and leavened with laughter” by the Boston Globe. Eccles Black Box through Sunday.
Pop candy for your ears: Midnight Til Morning, the fake band formed on the Netflix series Building the Band is now a real band at The Complex, 7pm.
80’s rock n’ roll nostalgically emanates out of Danny Rocco’s (aka Des Rocs) music. He cites Queen and Elvis as influences and has opened for Weezer and The Rolling Stones… he keeps good company. Soundwell, 6pm.

RDGLDGRN’s mix of rock, hip-hop, and funk is deeply infectious. Check out their Tiny Desk Concert. Sublime-influenced JARV makes conscious hip-hop with dense lyrical storytelling and witty wordplay. See both bands at Soundwell, 8pm.
Swedish erotic provocateur COBRAH will perform her deconstructed club and electropop concert at The Complex, 7pm

West Side Story, the ballet, requires such adept skill to both sing and dance that only five ballet companies in the world have received a license to perform it. Ballet West has long wanted to present this acclaimed Jerome Robbins work and last year was awarded a prized license. See this spectacle at Capitol Theatre, just six shows.
Few choral works hit as hard as Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. The power of the dozens of singers, led by the full Utah Symphony is highly dramatic and it will linger with you long after you’ve left the theater. Abravanel Hall, Fri + Sat.

Headlining the day: the Downtown Farmers Market with just two more Saturdays to frolic with friends, find the freshest foods, feast on fantastic fare, and fall for a favorite local find.
In 2020, Lily Rose’s viral hit Villain brought fame to the country artist. The song shows off her powerful vocal range and soulful storytelling. Five years later, she has toured with Shania Twain and Luke Bryan. See her at The Complex, 7pm.

Twenty-five gold and platinum albums and 52 million albums sold in the last 50 years makes Journey one of the world’s best selling bands of all time. Don’t stop believin’ that even though the band doesn't look like the San Francisco group of the 70’s and 80’s, they sound exactly the same. Fans have Open Arms for this final world tour.
