On the Street: 10 Cool New Things Coming Downtown

Your On The Street team has been witnessing a flurry of new businesses open, expand, and double down on Downtown. It might be the dog days of summer, but Downtown didn’t get the memo.

Bespoke on Lower Pierpont

Lower Pierpont, West Pierpont… whatever you call it, this retail node has a charm all its own. The original produce district of Salt Lake City has been evolving into one of the hippest areas with boutiques, cafes, yoga studios, and more. Bespoke is the word here, from newly-expanded Solvi’s customized scents, to Handwork, a gorgeous little yarn store–excuse us, fiber shop. Cruise by Old Cuss Cafe or Rose Establishment for coffee then peruse Atelier for the most unique gifts (for yourself) and check out the neighborhood's latest addition: Scents of Wood, an olfactory wonderland with candles and fragrances inspired by forests and trees.

Kintsugi on 100 South

While you are in the neighborhood, check out the new mural in Japantown, designed by Ogden artist Cole Eisenhour. The artwork is inspired by kintsugi—the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold—to honor the neighborhood's past, present, and resilience. Dangling off the 15-story building, Cole is up there every day painting his massive masterpiece. Go give him encouragement! 120 S. 200 West

Sandwiches, Incoming

Silverside Deli on Main Street and 270 South

On Main Street, Chef Zach Wojdula from Current and White Horse fame is opening another branch of his Silverside Deli, featuring his Michelin-level, flavor-packed gourmet sandwiches and New York-style breakfast sandwiches.

We’ll keep an eye on Stevie’s Cafe. This was the short-lived Fonsi’s at 320 West 200 South… we’ll miss those sandwiches. Does the temporary sign envision a cat cafe? We’ll let the cat out of the bag when we find out!

Chocolate The Size of Paving Stones

Läderach at City Creek Mall

If you see Läderach from a distance, it would be easy to confuse it for a jewelry store. Inside the City Creek location, gorgeous displays are filled with chocolate truffles almost too beautiful to eat and glass cases hold slabs of perfectly lit chocolate the size and weight bigger than paving stones. You can ask them to chisel some off, or you can just buy the entire slab! Bonus: generous sampling encouraged.  Double Bonus: it’s incredible chocolate.

Edison Street 300 South to 400 South

On Edison Street, the Mayor Voss space is being transformed. We can’t tell you everything we know, except a popular local lounge known for their mixology is at work redesigning the space. And, just like they did on 900 South, this location will transform and elevate the nightlife in the neighborhood. Are you picking up what we are laying down?

Tierra Amore on 30 East and 300 South

More questions than answers on Broadway. Tierra Amore’s sign teases brunch, dinner, and agaves. Our bet is either Matteo or Monarca are behind this space on Bar Block. Both have locations nearby and since both are excellent operators and chefs, we’ll take either!

See you On The Street!
