Where are you going to find alligator tacos in Salt Lake? Neutral Ground, the 5-star-Google-rated restaurant near the airport is probably the only place in the region. They closed their restaurant recently to move into 122 Pierpont. We look forward to having their unique twist on Cajun much closer to us. Laissez les bon temps rouler!

Toro Rosa bills itself as Utah’s finest tequila library. It was a bit hidden inside The Perry Hotel, but recently moved to a prime streetside location next to Sonoma Grill. Great service, cute patio, and all the juices for margs are made in-house.

Meanwhile the space that Toro Rosa exited will become Spritz. This morning, we peeked in to see a robust reworking of the space. They’re planning for a mid-May opening and are testing popular spritz recipes from the UK and Italy. Perfect for the coming warmer weather! Eccellente!

We draw your attention to Maxwell’s Tiny Bar on 200 South. Since opening, their hours have been rough and service was murky. Well, there has been a swift rebound recently with consistent hours (5-11 Mon-Fri, 11-11 Sat-Sun) and great service and food. Plus a pleasant patio to perch for a perfect pint or piquant pizza. Bellissima!

Miss Jazz SLC? We do too. Hail Bob McCarthy (owner of Stoneground) who purchased Junior's Tavern and lovingly refreshed the space. Starting May 10th, he plans to return the bar to its former glory as a jazz and blues venue. Imagine afterwork drinks on that little patio while sublime saxophone strains drift onto Broadway. 18 Carat Baby!

The Daily closed up shop inside the 222 building on Main Street. What a bummer–it was a wonderful, bright, modern coffee shop. Word is that a sushi restaurant will be renovating the space and hopes to open by July. Arigatō!

We can’t help but be giddy for Aker Restaurant and Lounge going into the old Maxwell’s space on Exchange Place. We gawked through the windows to see an impressive  respect for the architectural elegance of the space. They are shooting for a June opening. Expect a supper club/lounge experience that will be the Cat’s Pajamas!
