Economic Benchmark

Every year, the Alliance compiles a comprehensive benchmark report that evaluates the state of downtown’s economy. The report evaluates development, employment, office leases, residential, hospitality, retail, culture, transportation and quality of life. The Alliance hopes this report encourages additional economic activity and development downtown.

THE BLOCKS is a visionary initiative of the City and County to promote the abundance and vibrancy of our creative community, facilitate partnerships and collaborations and activate underutilized spaces to promote downtown Salt Lake City as the premier cultural district of the Intermountain West.

Learn more about THE BLOCKS and discover more than 80 monthly arts and culture events at theblocksslc.com

Since 1992, the Downtown Farmers Market has been the place for farmers and food purveyors to interact with residents of Salt Lake City and beyond. Thousands of patrons and several hundred vendors fill Pioneer Park and the Rio Grande Train Depot each Saturday morning, providing income for farmers and a stronger community connection to food for local families and visitors.

The Downtown Farmers Market and its supporting programming is presented by the Downtown Alliance and its sponsors.

Get the word, literally out-on-the-street about your downtown, nonprofit event or activity with advertising on downtown kiosks or banners. Applications for banners and kiosks are accepted year-round and are a fantastic way to reach thousands of downtown pedestrians and drivers.

Kiosks

Want to spread the word about your non-profit organization? THE BLOCKS, Salt Lake’s Cultural Core manages the rental of four kiosks along Main Street. Each kiosk has six windows and is available to non-profit organizations, excluding those that are religious or political. If you are interested, you must submit materials, which are subject to approval by THE BLOCKS, at least 30 days before the anticipated promotion schedule. Download the form below and submit your application; it's a great way to grab locals' attention.

Contact with any kiosk inquiries.

Banners

Fly your flags all over the city. The Banner Program is another great way to advertise events and activities within the downtown area. The banners, located on both sides of West Temple and State Street from South Temple to 400 South, are on double-bracket poles and must be eight feet in length. All other poles downtown hold six-foot banners.

Please contact Kai at  for additional questions and banner inquiries.

Our Mission

The Downtown Alliance is a 501c6 nonprofit organization dedicated to building a dynamic and diverse community that is the regional center for culture, commerce and entertainment.

Established in 1991, the Downtown Alliance represents more than 2,500 business and property owners in the Central Business District, which is bounded by North Temple, Interstate 15, 400 South, and 300 East. A special assessment on commercial properties in the CBD helps to fund the Downtown Alliance. Our approximately $2.5 million budget is comprised of 40 percent special assessment funds and 60 percent sponsorships, donations, attendance fees and partnerships with other organizations. The Downtown Alliance became a strategic partner of the Salt Lake Chamber in 2003 and shares office space and administrative resources with the Chamber.
