Downtown SLC Open Streets - 
Closed to cars. Open for fun.

It’s time to come out and play in the street! Downtown SLC’s Main Street will be closed to cars and transformed into a pedestrian promenade each Thursday, Friday and Saturday from noon - close this summer.  Restaurants, bars and shops between 400 South and South Temple will extend their service onto the sidewalks. Musicians and other artists will welcome everyone each night.

Downtown’s spacious Main Street corridor will be animated with buskers, activations and art performances from Exchange Place to City Creek Center between 6pm and 10pm (Thursday, Friday and Saturday).

Where do I park, how can I get around?

  • On-street paid parking throughout downtown
  • City Creek Center (First two hours are free!)
  • Paid parking garages are accessible via Gallivan Ave and Exchange Place
  • TRAX, Frontrunner and UTA busses (enjoy the free fare zone)
  • GREENbike 
  • Rideshare Services (Lyft, Uber)

Will ADA accommodations be provided?

Open Streets is for everyone. Main Street will have ADA ramps and access to all businesses.

Are masks required?

Per new CDC guidelines, masks are welcome but not required outdoors. However, many restaurants and shops require face coverings within their premises. Courteous compliance at businesses is appreciated.

What will I find at Open Streets?

You will find outdoor dining, music, buskers, dancers and all kinds of friendly people that have been cooped up for a year!, Open Streets is an invitation for everyone to safely enjoy downtown.

I’m a downtown business owner, how can I participate?

We encourage all downtown businesses to appeal to the thousands of people that come downtown for Open Streets each week. Use your social media, signs, merchandising, programming and customer base to associate your business with #OpenStreetsSLC activations.

I am a downtown property owner, who can I contact with questions?

Barricades will block auto traffic on Main Street in both directions between Main Street and 400 South from noon until business close (around 1:00 am) on activation days (Th, Fr, Sa). Cross streets will remain open.
