Parking & Transportation in Downtown SLC

There are over 32,400 parking spaces and 2,000 metered parking stalls in the Downtown Salt Lake City area.

Interstate 15 was redesigned in 2001 to better accommodate Salt Lake City's growing population and economy. The redesign included adding High Occupancy Vehicle lanes and additional lanes of traffic. Downtown Salt Lake City is now served by the 600 North interchange, 400 South HOV interchange and the 500 South interchange. The entire freeway system now includes strategically positioned cameras that monitor traffic flow and alert drivers of potential delays before they encounter them. The TRAX Light Rail System promptly delivers people directly downtown within minutes after boarding the North-South Sandy line, and the East-West University line. TRAX operates from approximately 5:30 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. Monday thru Thursdays, until 1:00 A.M. on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 9:30 A.M. to 9:30 P.M. on Sundays. This system is exceeding predicted rider numbers of over 25,000 riders per day. Several expansion projects are currently underway or in the planning stages.
