Utahns bring in 2012 with EVE

Utahns are welcoming the new year in downtown Salt Lake City with the third annual EVE celebration.
The indoor and outdoor celebration features live music, film, comedy and kids' activities
his year's EVE celebration feels different than the celebrations of the first two years; snow and winter storm warnings were guests at previous celebrations, but this year is warm and dry. The warmer weather has increased attendance at this year's celebration, according to the Downtown Alliance, who coordinates the party.
"The last two years we've had winter storm warnings during EVE so although snow is beautiful, people stayed inside," said Danica Farley, spokesperson for Downtown Alliance.
But even with colder temperatures later in the night, there are still plenty of indoor activities, including the "Crash Box," an activity that lets particpants use trash cans to create rhythm.
It's kind of urban drumming, like Stomp or Blue Man Group. There's already percussion playing so there's a rhythm going and we'll have some student drum teachers there training so people are out there playing and making new friends," said Farley.
