Salt Lake City offers holiday events and free parking
Downtown Salt Lake City will offer free parking and several public events during the holiday season, Downtown Alliance and Salt Lake City officials say.
Ice skating • A new ice rink at Gallivan Plaza is open.
Dance • Ballet West will ring in the holidays with Willam Christensen’s production of The Nutcracker. It runs Dec. 2-Dec. 31.
Other events • These include lights on Temple Square and throughout the city center and musical performances by the Utah Symphony, Mormon Tabernacle Choir and composer Kurt Bestor.
More than 5,000 new parking spaces have been added. Parking is free for up to two hours at meters.
The TRAX free-fare zone makes it easier to navigate the downtown area.
