‘Old World’ shopping
If you’ve ever had the good fortune to celebrate Christmas in Europe, you know how different the holiday is over the pond.
In addition to celebrating the holiday beyond Dec. 25, to Boxing Day and on into Twlefth Night, the Europeans also love their open-air markets. With origins in Germany, the outdoor chalets and indoor vendor booths in city hall villages across the Continent serve as rustic one-stop shooping center.
In honor of the tradition, Salt Lake City’w Downtown Alliance brings the same feel and experience to the Union Pacific Grand Depot Hall, with lots of handmade and artisan items to choose from courtesy of local vendors and craftspeople. You’ll also find traditional German foods, hot chocolate and cider, nuts and kettle corn to satisfy your shopping appetite.
If this genuine shopping environment of old doesn’t suit your needs, you can always mix it up with the larger Gateway mall.
